Heritage MPs Welcome German Delegation

Yerevan—Yesterday, October 18, members of Heritage’s parliamentary fraction met at the National Assembly with the German Bundestag’s Germany-South Caucasus Parliamentary Friendship Group led by Steffen Reiche.

During the meeting, Armenian parliament members Stepan Safarian, Vardan Khachatrian, and Larisa Alaverdian introduced Heritage’s party program, the basis for the party’s opposing stance, and the benchmarks for true reforms in Armenia. In her turn, Zaruhi Postanjian gave details on the lawmaking initiatives of Heritage’s parliamentary group and underscored the need to stop political imprisonment and to eliminate the legislative loopholes which bring this about.

The sides emphasized the necessity to improve relations between the legislatures of both countries. Against this background, member of the National Assembly’s Armenia-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group Armen Martirosian pointed to Heritage’s principal doctrine which stipulates Armenia’s full membership in the European family. Martirosian also expressed a conviction that the friendship group would play a considerable role to that end. On behalf of the German parliamentary delegation, Steffen Reiche underlined the imperative of promoting, by means of legislative actions, the integration of the South Caucasus.
